As a lot of people know Long Beach, CA is a bicycle friendly city.  There are all types of riders, from all walks of life, that enjoy this amazing two wheeled machine.  This is the short version on how Long Beach started doing Gold Sprint racing. In 2006, the bicycle came back into my life.  I was doing group rides and hanging out with other riders.  I was thinking to myself, "What would really be over the top and amazing for all of us to do, all year long?"   I searched and searched for a different type of cycling sport .  And then BLAM...I saw gold sprints aka roller racing.  (I didn't know this particular sport was as old as cycling itself).  And I thought to myself, "How rad would that be to have roller racing in Long Beach!".  So, in 2007, I was on the hunt for the knowledge and gear to make this happen.  It took a whole year to get it together from the software to rollers and bikes.   In early November 2008, the City of Long Beach had an event downtown called "University by the Sea" my friends from Long Beach Cyclists, which is a fabulous organization, invited me to test out my new toy.  The event was a complete success.

Below are photos and a link showing how unique and special this sport is and the people that partcipate, whether it be riding or just watching.
